BYU can always say it won the final edition of college football's Poinsettia Bowl.
The San Diego Bowl Association announced on Wednesday that it is discontinuing the bowl game played at Qualcomm Stadium, which in 2016 was won 24-21 by BYU over Wyoming.
There were 12 Poinsettia Bowls, and BYU played in two of them, downing San Diego State 23-6 in the 2012 game. That game drew 35,442 and was the only one that drew more than 30,000 fans in the last six years. Last year's BYU-Wyoming game drew 28,114 fans.
The Association will continue to operate the Holiday Bowl, which has been played at Qualcomm a week after the Poinsettia Bowl.
