The most noticeable improvement, according to several fans just prior to kickoff, was better cellular connectivity.
BYU says it worked closely with four major carriers this summer to find ways that fans could get better cellphone reception when about 64,000 pack the stadium.
"Mobile device connectivity is an important issue to Cougar fans," according to a school news release.
This summer's connectivity improvements for cellphones are the first step. The next step is to bring better Wi-Fi, something that might take a few years to accomplish, according to the release.
"Initial estimates for a comprehensive Wi-Fi solution for LaVell Edwards Stadium could cost upwards of $2 million, a significant investment for a venue that is used 7-8 times a year," the release said.
