BYU football notebook: Cougar cross-training continues at linebacker

It was previously reported that coaches are ardently cross-training defensive backs in order to build more depth and diversity. The same thing is going on with the linebackers, with the early returns looking promising.

“I think we have 10 really good linebackers … whether they’re inside or out, we’re still trying to figure that out and find the best combination.”

PROVO — BYU senior linebacker Jherremya Leuta-Douyere played at inside linebacker when he first suited up for the Cougars. But when coaches asked him to try out the outside linebacker position this past Monday, the 6-foot, 230-pound linebacker took to the position like he'd been playing it for years.
