Shortly after BYU held off San Jose State 17-16 late Friday night in front of 15,652 fans at Spartan Stadium — a good description of the old, dim venue, actually — coach Bronco Mendenhall sat in a makeshift tent behind the Cougars' locker room and looked downright drained.
He thanked the large contingent of BYU fans who attended the game — I'm guessing it was more than two-thirds BYU fans — and then let out a big sigh of relief.
"Oh man, I am glad we won," Mendenhall said in his opening statement. "Credit to San Jose State.
