Sampson was a senior, so his college career was over; Stout resumed his studies at Utah Valley University, returned to BYU for the 2014 season a self-described "changed man," shined in the Miami Beach Bowl and is now an assistant coach at Payson High.
This time around, Mendenhall will again give his players the weekend off after they practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and use Friday to work on conditioning. But he will remind them on Thursday before he leaves on a recruiting trip to steer clear of trouble.
"Usually the last words that I say when our team leaves the locker room in LaVell Edwards Stadium after a win is to look after each other on the weekend," Mendenhall said Monday.
