EAST LANSING, Mich. — Despite an advantage in field position throughout the first half, BYU heads into halftime trailing Michigan State 7-3 at Spartan Stadium.
The Cougars tacked on their only points of the first half on a 35-yard Rhett Almond field goal as time expired in the second quarter. The kick was set up by a 11-yard run from BYU quarterback Taysom Hill to the MSU 18 on the previous play on an 11-play drive.
BYU(2-3) had two previous drives end in Michigan State territory without any points after failing to convert on fourth down.
