BYU football commit Troy Warner serving suspension for fighting

Anyone trying to track how four-star BYU commit Troy Warner is doing on the football field during his senior season at Mission Hills High School in San Marcos, California, will notice that the safety hasn’t registered any stats in the Grizzlies’ last two contests.

As it turns out, Warner is serving a three-game suspension for a Sept. 4 incident in which he got in a scuffle with a Torrey Pines opponent. The two threw punches and were immediately ejected.

John Labeta, assistant commissioner of the California Interscholastic Federation, the governing body for prep sports in the Golden State, said the incident was considered “gross unsportsmanlike conduct,” which is automatic grounds for a three-game suspension.
