PROVO — When it comes to in-state showdowns, BYU has lost four straight games to Utah and dropped two of the last five to Utah State.
To put it another way, the Cougars are a combined 3-6 against the Utes and Aggies since 2010.
So is BYU’s approach any different this week as it prepares to visit Utah State Saturday (1:30 p.m., MST, CBSSN)?
Coach Bronco Mendenhall said Monday the approach is the same. As usual, he doesn’t like to put greater emphasis on any single opponent.
“Anytime you focus your emotion only on the opponent or on whom you’re playing, you risk the real highs and the real lows and not being very consistent,” he said.
