PROVO — One point of emphasis during BYU’s bye week was getting better in its run defense.
“There are a lot of ways we can improve. You can always improve against the run,” said senior defensive lineman Bronson Kaufusi. “Everyone has a role in the run. Being able to execute is going to be a vital thing for us moving forward.”
The Cougars will face a talented running back, Tyler Ervin, when they visit San Jose State next Friday.
Ervin ran for 263 yards, including a 71-yard touchdown, against New Mexico.
Earlier this season, the 5-foot-11, 177-pounder from Colton, California, had a 300-yard rushing game against Fresno State.
