BYU basketball: Rose brings former assistant Heath Schroyer back to Provo

Schroyer was an assistant on coach Steve Cleveland's BYU staff from 1997 to 2001, along with Rose. The Cougars won the Mountain West Conference regular season and tournament championship in 2001.

Schroyer began his coaching career at Fresno Community College. He also has been a coach at Wyoming, Portland State and Tennessee-Martin. He lost his job at NC State in March when Gottfried was forced out.

"I'm very excited to be back at BYU," Schroyer said. "Coach Rose and I have remained great friends since working together 20 years ago, and I have a great fondness for this program.
