Provo • Eric Mika scored 19 points and TJ Haws added 17 points on Tuesday night, leading BYU to an 84-58 victory over Idaho State at the Marriott Center.
The Cougars jumped to a 14-3 lead, but they scored only two points in the final 2:37 on the first half, when the Bengals narrowed the deficit to 39-31.
Idaho State got as close as 41-36 in the opening minute of the second half before BYU's Nick Emery buried a 3-pointer from the corner, triggering a 7-0 run.
With the win BYU improved to 8-4 heading into Thursday night's game against Cal-Bakersfield.
