Provo • Gonzaga held off a furious BYU comeback and took a 71-68 win over the Cougars on Saturday night at the Marriott Center.
Trailing by two with 3.5 seconds left, the Cougars had a chance to win or tie, but Zac Seljaas' inbounds pass was mishandled and Gonzaga took possession with .9 seconds left.
The Cougars shot just 33 percent, while the Zags shot 47 percent.
BYU fell to 13-5 in WCC play and will be the third seed in the WCC Tournament next week.
The Cougars had the ball with 17 seconds left, trailing by two, but Nick Emery's 3-pointer was just off and Seljaas' tip-in try rimmed out.
