To nobody's surprise, seniors Kyle Collinsworth, Chase Fischer and Nate Austin were named team captains for the 2015-16 men's basketball season by BYU coach Dave Rose on Tuesday.
Well, the selection of Austin as a captain is a partial surprise, if only because the big fella is a non-scholarship player this season after the NCAA granted him eligibility for another year due to a medical hardship.
Austin suffered a season-ending hamstring injury in 2014-15 after starting the first 10 games of the season.
He ranks fourth all-time at BYU with 235 offensive rebounds and 16th all-time with 71 blocked shots.
