SAN DIEGO — Trailing 32-19 late in the first half Thursday night at Jenny Craig Pavilion, BYU was struggling and it appeared the Cougars were headed toward yet another mind-boggling loss.
But BYU rallied from that 13-point deficit and hung on to beat the West Coast Conference’s last-place team, San Diego, 69-67.
Kyle Collinsworth scored a game-high 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had six assists to lead the Cougars while Nick Emery knocked down three free throws over the final 18.3 seconds for BYU.
In January, the Cougars upset Gonzaga at The Kennel but then lost at Portland.
