BYU arrives in Las Vegas amid uncertainty about who will be Cougars' new coach

LAS VEGAS — For the first time in its history, the BYU football program is in the middle of a bowl week being led by an outgoing coach.

And uncertainty abounds about who will be the Cougars' new coach.

BYU arrived here Tuesday night for Saturday’s game against Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl amid uncertainty about who will replace Bronco Mendenhall.

Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo arrived in Utah Sunday night and spent Monday interviewing with BYU and LDS Church leaders about BYU’s coaching vacancy.

It’s unclear whether or not Niumatalolo received a job offer before he returned to Annapolis.
