SALT LAKE CITY — It was like a first love, dreamy and sweet, each day a fathomless blue. But later came the breakup, and the world got strange and foreign.

Changing perspective was hard.

Then the unexpected happened.

In the past two weeks, BYU and the deep pass reconciled.

For the first time since Max Hall got his Utah hate on, BYU is dialing long distance again. Tanner Mangum is calm, confident and keeps his eyes on the horizon.
