A snowstorm that pounded the state Monday continued overnight and turned the Tuesday morning commute into a crawl, continuing the “cycle” of storms forecast to come over the next week or so.
Many travelers headed to work at half-speed or slower on ice- and slush-covered highways Tuesday morning, thanks to lake-enhanced snow along the Wasatch Front. The day before, Utah Highway Patrol troopers responded to hundreds of crashes in the morning and the National Weather Service recorded record-breaking snow accumulation.
Temperatures that dropped into the 20s overnight in the Salt Lake area weren’t expected to rise above the mid-20s Tuesday.
