Except for Fruit Heights' Daniel Summerhays, it was a tough day for Utah golfers in the first round of the PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Course in New Jersey.
For the five Utah golfers at the PGA Championship in New Jersey, it wasn’t a great day in Thursday’s opening round.
Only Fruit Heights’ Daniel Summerhays had a good round, shooting an even-par 70 to finish in a tie for 36th place after the first round of golf’s fourth major. Among the other Utahns in the field, Ogden’s Zac Blair shot 73, Farmington’s Joe Summerhays shot 76, while Salt Lake’s Tommy Sharp and Lehi’s Tony Finau both came in at 77.
