Orem • Bingham’s Andrew Wissler and Raymond Lewis ran for long touchdowns in the fourth quarter Thursday as the Miners pulled away to a 39-22 victory over Orem in the opening game of the Utah high school football season.
The Class 6A defending champion Miners led 18-7 at halftime after Peyton Jones threw three touchdown passes. Orem, the 2017 winner in Class 4A, then fell behind 25-7 midway through the quarter before Puka Nacua's 80-yard touchdown catch and Noah Sewell's 4-yard run pulled the Tigers to within 25-22.
Orem had two possessions with a chance to take the lead, but Bingham’s defense responded with interceptions by Jared Greenfield and Porter Hawkins.
