INDIANAPOLIS – Jeff Meyer never promised to remain on LaVall Jordan’s Butler coaching staff for more than three years. But Meyer said he was excited about this college basketball season and eager for a fourth.
However, he said he could not have known in May that the pandemic would extend into November. With two daughters living in Canada and the border closed to U.S. citizens because of COVID-19's spread here, family overrode hoops.
After all, Meyer has six grandchildren to coach these days.
“It’s not ideal timing,” said Meyer, 66, whose retirement was announced Monday by the university.
