When Villanova coach Jay Wright hoisted the Big East trophy as Kool and the Gang's "Celebration" filled Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, it signaled the second time in three seasons the Wildcats earned the conference crown.
Walking around the court with one of the freshly cut nets around his neck, tournament MVP Josh Hart admitted the Wildcats had focused on this tournament after not winning it last year en route to their national title.
"We wanted to play 40 minutes of Villanova basketball," said the senior guard.
The trophy presentation also signaled the end of four days full of preparation, dedication and emotion among the 10 Big East teams competing in the 35th edition of the tournament at "The World's Most Famous Arena.
