INDIANAPOLIS – Butler University spent $10.5 million on new stuff so that it would look old.
That’s an oversimplification of a renovation to Hinkle Fieldhouse, but the bottom line is this: Hinkle, built in 1928, still looks like Hinkle. The makeover at 510 W. 49th Street allows the Bulldogs to keep up with their Big East neighbors.
“We’re following up on the foresight of Butler administrators from 90 years ago, when the building was first erected,” athletic director Barry Collier said.
