INDIANAPOLIS – They say they can’t remember the moment. It was early in their freshman year at Butler when a coach asked Kelan Martin and Tyler Wideman to carry a can to the garbage dump.
Martin grabbed one side, and Wideman the other.
“Because the coach said they have to stay together,” said Cammy Wideman, mother of Tyler.
Even if apocryphal, the story should be true. Martin and Wideman are as linked in Butler basketball lore as Tucker and Fitzgerald, Hainje and Jackson, Green and Graves, or Hayward and Mack.
