WHITESTOWN – At Andrew Smith’s memorial service Sunday, thousands of words were spoken about his faith, life and basketball career.
Smith himself would have been succinct.
Aaron Brocket, pastor at Traders Point Christian Church, said Smith once told wife Samantha that he would rather print a T-shirt summarizing his beliefs than to grant any interviews. According to the story, Brockett said, words on Smith’s T-shirt would be:
“I love Jesus.
“I love my wife.
“And I love Butler basketball.”
Those were themes of the service, which drew about 1,500 mourners and was watched online via the TPCC.
