INDIANAPOLIS – Young teams in college basketball endure growing pains. And it was painful for Butler on Monday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Marcus Domask, a 6-6 forward and Wisconsin Mr. Basketball, scored 26 points as Southern Illinois used a 26-2 run in the first half to end the Bulldogs’ 59-game non-league home winning streak, 76-73.
A potential tying 3-point by Butler freshman JaKobe Coles missed as time expired.
Butler last lost at home to Pittsburgh 68-62 in overtime in the College Basketball Invitational on March 22, 2012.
The Bulldogs trimmed an 18-point deficit to three points, 74-71, with 18 seconds left.
