Olivia Pratt was to women’s distance running at Butler as Gordon Hayward was to men’s basketball.
“We felt like we were stealing somebody,” track coach Matt Roe said.
Pratt has continued climbing the pro ranks, most recently Saturday morning in the 10,000 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
She finished 25th in 33:11.88 in a race that ended with temperature at 86 degrees, and hotter than that trackside. The race was moved from the original time slot because of the heat.
Pratt said she was not entirely satisfied but added:
“It was an important day for me.
