Nike announced Friday that it has suspended its relationship with Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving and will no longer launch his new sneaker, the Kyrie 8.
"At Nike, we believe there is no place for hate speech and we condemn any form of antisemitism," Nike said in its announcement. "We are deeply saddened and disappointed by the situation and its impact on everyone."
Nike's decision comes one day after the Nets suspended Irving for "no less than five games" after he failed to formally apologize during a news conference earlier Thursday for his social-media posts about an antisemitic book and movie late last week.
