INDIANAPOLIS – LaVall Jordan is immersed in Butler basketball culture.

He played for Butler, coached at Butler, lived the Butler Way. That way was essentially introduced by Jordan’s college coach, Barry Collier, the athletic director who hired him. When Jordan was introduced June 14 as Butler coach, he said he couldn’t wait for the “BU-TLE, R U a Bulldog?” chant.

“Hell, yes!” Jordan said.

Butler became Butler by embracing change, however. And Jordan is attempting to tweak what has been the Bulldogs’ style of play for more than 20 years, pairing up-tempo offense with lockdown defense.
