Kelan Martin's 35 points lifts Dawgs past Hoyas

Butler is not an NCAA tournament team. Not yet.

But after a 3-6 start in Big East basketball, the Bulldogs looked like a team capable of extending their season well into March.

Kelan Martin scored a career-high 35 points, and Butler secured a much-needed victory by holding off Georgetown 87-76 Tuesday night before a crowd of 8,080 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Martin exceeded his previous high of 27, set Saturday at Marquette, and scored the most by a Big East player in any game this season. He was 10-of-18 from the field, 3-of-6 on 3-pointers and 12-of-13 on free throws.
