For the first time in five Big East basketball seasons, Butler is 1-0.
And it sure did not look possible. Not after falling behind by 20 points.
Kelan Martin banked in a runner with 2.6 seconds left, lifting the Bulldogs over Georgetown 91-89 in double overtime Wednesday night at Washington, D.C.
It was a successful Big East coaching debut for Butler's LaVall Jordan. Georgetown's coach, Patrick Ewing, is also in his first year.
Butler (11-3) next faces No. 1 Villanova on Saturday in a CBS showcase at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Georgetown, which played the weakest nonleague schedule in the nation, is 10-2.
