Kelan Martin powers No. 18 Butler past Tennessee

Kelan Martin scored 16 of his career-high 25 points in the second half, and No. 18 Butler overcame a 10-point deficit to beat Tennessee 94-86 Saturday before a sellout of 9,100 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Roosevelt Jones had 21 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists for the Bulldogs (8-1). Tyler Wideman added 14 points, Kellen Dunham 12 and Jordan Gathers 10.

Kevin Punter scored 27 to lead Tennessee (4-4). Armani Moore scored 17 and Admiral Schofield 16.

The Bulldogs, the nation's second-highest-scoring team, now await next week’s Crossroads Classic showdown against No. 11 Purdue.

Martin scored 13 consecutive Butler points in one stretch and 16 of 18.
