Former IU point guard Rob Phinisee narrowed his transfer destination to two schools: Butler and Cincinnati.
Phinisee played four seasons with the Hoosiers but has an extra year of eligibility because of the NCAA's blanket waiver of eligibility on the 2020-21 season due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Butler has a void at point guard with the graduation of longtime starter Aaron Thompson. Cincinnati also is looking to replace a point guard as former Lawrence North standout Mike Saunders transferred from the Bearcats to Utah. New Butler coach Thad Matta will be familiar with Phinisee, having spent the past season at IU as associate athletic director for basketball operations.
