INDIANAPOLIS – Butler University issued credentials to four NBA teams for Saturday’s game, although because of travel issues, only the Indiana Pacers had a representative. By all accounts, NBA attention was on the dynamic Shamorie Ponds of St. John’s.
Come for Ponds. Stay for Kamar Baldwin.
For the second successive January duel of left-handed guards at Hinkle Fieldhouse, the nod went to Baldwin and the victory to Butler.
Baldwin scored 20 of his 30 points in the second half — including 14 of his team’s last 18 — and secured the Bulldogs’ 80-71 victory before a sellout of 9,121.
