MILWAUKEE – When the Butler Bulldogs make 3s, they win. When opponents do so, they lose.
Is it that simple? Actually, it is.
That is why the 13th-seeded Winthrop Eagles (26-6) are such a threat to upset No. 4 seed Butler (23-8) in Thursday’s NCAA South Regional. Winthrop ranks 23rd in the nation in 3s made per game (9.5), featuring four players with 50 or more.
Foremost among them is Keon Johnson, a 5-7 guard from Mansfield, Ohio, and Big South Player of the Year.
