Just about everything about Butler basketball in the 2000s has been unreasonable.
If new to Bulldogs fandom, you might now know university leaders once considered dropping down to non-scholarship Division III. Butler had 15 season-ticket holders, no recruiting budget, traveled in a hand-me-down bus and went 12 straight years — 12! – without winning a game in the conference tournament.
So the Bulldogs' achievements — back-to-back Final Fours, climbing from Horizon League to Atlantic 10 to Big East, going four straight years with an NCAA tournament victory (one of eight programs in the nation to do so) — are entirely unreasonable.
