NEWARK, N.J. — After a third successive road defeat dropped the Butler Bulldogs to 3-6 in the Big East, there were rumblings that they weren’t good enough to compete in their new conference. Not big enough, not talented enough, not good enough.
On Wednesday night, they were good enough to beat arguably the hottest team in one of the nation’s top college basketball leagues.
