INDIANAPOLIS – Data exist for everything. College students can major in something called informatics, the science of applied computing.
Butler basketball followers do not need informatics to know what they see: The Bulldogs are inconsistent. But the data show it, too. Erik Haslam, who has a college basketball analytics site, rates Butler the nation’s 15th-most erratic team.
Through it all, the Bulldogs (19-11) have put themselves in position to make the NCAA tournament for a fourth successive March. They close the regular season Saturday against Seton Hall (20-10) at Newark, N.J.
None of the seeds for next week’s Big East tournament is determined.
