The 10th-annual Crossroads Classic will be played Dec. 19, pitting Butler against IU, and Purdue against Notre Dame.
Confirmation of both the date and the actual event — which had been subject to participants’ conference schedules — came Tuesday, when numerous schools announced it. IU released its full nonconference schedule, including the game against Butler, the Hoosiers’ expected pairing in the two-year rotation.
A behind-the-scenes video released by Purdue earlier in the week suggested the Classic had been holding Dec. 20, a Sunday, as an alternate date in case issues with scheduling and television arose. Dec. 19, a Saturday and the date the event would traditionally be held, is also football conference championship Saturday this year because of schedules reworked due to COVID-19.
