Butler basketball has long been known for shooters. The Bulldogs will acquire another in Cloverdale High School junior Cooper Neese.
The 17-year-old Neese, 6-4 and 182 pounds, announced Tuesday night that he has committed to Butler. He is the Bulldogs’ first recruit in the 2017 class.
Coincidentally, Butler’s all-time leading scorer, Chad Tucker, is also from Cloverdale.
Neese is not nationally ranked but is one of the state’s top shooters. He had three other scholarship offers: from Evansville, Indiana State and Ball State.
He liked those schools but said of his Butler visit:
“Butler was ‘wow.
