WASHINGTON – Butler’s basketball Bulldogs are not directly analogous to what the Indianapolis Colts were under Peyton Manning. They do share one characteristic, though:
Efficient offense can protect a vulnerable defense.
Butler resumes Big East play at noon Saturday at Georgetown for stakes that aren’t as high as when CBS took this matchup. Georgetown was second and Butler third in the preseason poll. Both are 7-8 in the conference, part of a four-way tie for fifth.
The Bulldogs (18-9) are barely in or out of most mock brackets, so they remain in position to win their way into the NCAA tournament.
