INDIANAPOLIS – Joey Brunk rolled a perfect “7,” and Butler opened its basketball season by shooting 60 percent in beating Miami of Ohio 90-68 Saturday night before a sellout crowd at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Brunk, a 6-11 redshirt sophomore from Southport High School, came off the bench and shot 7-of-7 for 17 points. That exceeded his career high of 10, set Nov. 21, 2016, against Norfolk State.
Kamar Baldwin led Butler with 21 points, four rebounds and six assists. Paul Jorgensen added 17 points, and Aaron Thompson scored 11 on 5-of-6 shooting.
Nate Fowler scored seven points, so the Bulldogs’ two centers combined for 24 points and 13 rebounds.
