INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs put up 15 runs off 13 hits in the 2016 home opener on Wednesday afternoon to defeat Marian 15-4. Butler recorded five extra base hits, including two grand slams to blow the game wide open.
The Knights struck first and they struck hard scoring all four of their runs in the first two innings. John O'Malley and Matt Turk each recorded a triple early in the contest to give the visitors the 4-0 lead. Butler would erase that deficit however by scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning.
The third got underway with back-to-back walks putting Cole Malloy and Chris Maranto on board with no outs.
