Butler second baseman Maggie MacBeth earned All-BIG EAST first-team honors, while senior left-handed pitcher Kristin Gutierrez was named to the second team, in an announcement made by the BIG EAST Wednesday (May 11). The honorees are chosen by the conference's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.
In her last five outings, spanning 20.1 innings, Gutierrez has allowed just one earned run (0.35 ERA) and three walks. She has struck out 19 batters over that same stretch.
This is the first BIG EAST honor for both MacBeth and Gutierrez. Bulldogs to previously be recognized with All-BIG EAST honors include Kristin Boros (second team, 2015; first team, 2014), Alyssa Lach (second team, 2015), Alex Kotter (second team, 2015), and Brandyce Sallee(second team, 2015).
