INDIANAPOLIS – As it turns out, Ohio State took Butler’s basketball coach, three assistant coaches and – finally – its top recruit.
Kyle Young of Massillon, Ohio, the prize recruit of what was once the highest-ranked class in Butler history, posted Monday on Twitter that he has received his release from Butler and will join the Buckeyes.
New coach LaVall Jordan persuaded four of five signees to stick with the Bulldogs but could not keep Young, who would have been the highest-ranked Butler recruit ever from outside Indiana. The 6-7 forward was targeted for a starting role as a Butler freshman.
