INDIANAPOLIS – If you can shoot, the NBA will find a place for you.
That is so for Sean McDermott anyway. Butler’s 6-6 forward, a former Indiana All-Star from Pendleton Heights, is signing a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies.
McDermott, 24, reached the agreement soon after Wednesday night’s NBA draft, in which he was not selected. This outcome would have been unimaginable a few years ago because he had a life-threatening staph infection while in high school.
"I always dreamt of it," McDermott said. "Like I've said before, I didn't think I belonged at Butler my first year.
