The Butler University women’s basketball team couldn’t complete a fourth-quarter comeback at home, falling to Xavier University 69-62 in their first conference game of the season on Dec. 29. The Bulldogs are now 8-5 on the year after their four-game winning streak was snapped.
Butler got off to a slow start in the contest, with Xavier limiting the Bulldogs to just seven points in the first quarter while scoring 19. After shooting just 15 percent from the field in the first ten minutes, the Bulldogs knocked down 57 percent of their shots in the second quarter and went on a 15-6 scoring run to end the half trailing by just two points.
