INDIANAPOLIS – It has taken 87 years for Arkansas to get around to a college basketball rematch against Butler. And wouldn’t you know it? Butler is still strong.

“One thing about Butler, they’ve got tradition,” Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said Monday. “They’re used to playing in the tournament.”

The teams’ lone meeting came on Jan. 2, 1931. How long ago was that? John Wooden was a consensus All-America player for Purdue, and Northwestern was mythical national champion.

The Bulldogs, two years removed from their 1929 national championship, beat Arkansas 37-21 in Indianapolis.
