WACO, Texas – Butler lost the game and its unbeaten record. In doing so, the Bulldogs might have earned as much college basketball respect as they did in any of their nine victories.
Baylor’s Mark Vital blocked Kamar Baldwin’s shot out of bounds with 1.5 seconds left, and the No. 11 Bears hung on for a 53-52 victory over No. 19 Butler at the Ferrell Center.
Baldwin scored 10 of his 19 points in the second half to lead a rally that nearly overcame what had been a 16-point deficit. He was 9-of-24 from the field.
Sean McDermott added 16 points, shooting 4-of-6 on 3-pointers.
