Butler, already assured of a strong basketball recruiting class, is almost done pursuing 2017 high school prospects. College coaches may begin home or school visits Friday.
The Bulldogs’ top target is 6-1 point guard Wabissa Bede of Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass. He is ranked 66th in his class by Rivals, 72nd by 247 Sports and 87th by ESPN.
Bede has scheduled visits to Minnesota (Sept. 16-18) and Virginia Tech (Sept. 23-25). Massachusetts and La Salle are also recruiting him.
The Bulldogs could use a point guard but are not necessarily desperate for one. Paul Jorgensen, a transfer from George Washington, will be a junior point guard in 2017-18.
