INDIANAPOLIS – Butler, needing a big man, found one for the next college basketball season. And the Bulldogs might not be done, either.
Georgia State’s 6-10 Jalen Thomas posted Wednesday night on social media he is transferring to Butler. Thomas, the second-highest ranked player ever to sign with Georgia State, visited Butler's campus last weekend.
Butler is continuing to pursue 6-11 shot-blocker Manny Bates of North Carolina State. Landing both Bates and Thomas would give Butler considerable size for a Big East frontcourt.
Thomas averaged 8.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks over two seasons. He had 12 points and nine rebounds in an NCAA tournament game against top-ranked Gonzaga, and 11 points and seven rebounds in the Sun Belt championship game.
